There’s an old saying, popularised by The Breakfast Club: “you mess with the bull, you get the horns”. What does it mean? Not much really. Mostly that if you do something dangerous, you might get hurt. One dangerous thing you could do would be to miss the crazy, brass based, MC led explosion that is BULLHORN at The Zoo Friday March 3rd. Joining them on stage will be 80’s disco boogie eruption, Vaudeville Smash, who recently launched their new single ‘Laura’ to massive acclaim and thrilling crowds everywhere they go. Rounding off an interstellar bill is Brisbane’s own good vibe reggae ska merchants Fat Picnic. Get ready for a massive night of musical mayhem and the irresistible urge to cut hectic shapes on the dance floor!
BULLHORN have been working hard on the Australian music scene, performing at festivals all over the country including Queenscliff Music Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Port Fairy Festival, Vivid Sydney, Ocean Street Festival, Mullum Festival, Bello Festival and that’s just in the last few months! After a spate of so many fantastic shows BULLHORN are gig fit and never sounding better! Roman MC, the front man, is intoxicating with his rhythmic word play and massive charismatic stage presence. When his skills are combined with the hard hitting sounds of 7 horns players and 1 bossing drummer the results are awe-inspiring. Their shows are a unique and incredible experience, like no other, and a must to see.
Made up of three brothers and two mates, no other Australian band sounds like Vaudeville Smash. An explosion of funk, flute, sax, synth and groove, the dance floor is packed at their shows. In case you’re wondering, they took their name from an Italian children’s karaoke machine that was around in the late ’80s.
Fat Picnic have built a reputation for creating music that is fun, high energy and keeps you dancing from start to finish. Funk, Reggae, Ska and Hip Hop are served up with fat bass, and a hot horn section. This eight piece band is on a funky mission to get people moving.
